Marcel Black

Marcel is a lifelong resident of Tuscumbia and a proud graduate of Deshler High School. After college and law school at the University of Alabama, he returned home to open the firm that became the predecessor to Black & Hughston. He served the Shoals area for 28 years as a member of the Alabama House of Representatives. Marcel focuses his practice on real estate matters. He and his wife of over 50 years, Martha, have two children and six grandchildren.

Jimmy Hughston

Jimmy is a lifelong resident of the Shoals and a founding member of the firm. He earned a bachelor’s degree and a juris doctorate from the University of Alabama. His practice focuses on commercial real estate, banking, corporate formation and acquisitions, estate planning and probate, and economic development. Jimmy serves as attorney for The Shoals EDA and the Shoals Industrial Development Committee, and in that role has represented local governmental entities in the Robert Trent Jones/Marriott Hotel/Florence Conference Center project, the Shoals RSA Barton project, the North American Lighting project, and many others. He and his wife Gail have three children and seven grandchildren.

Edgar Black

Edgar is a lifelong resident of the Shoals and the son of firm founder Marcel Black. He earned a degree in English from the University of Alabama and his law degree from Cumberland School of Law, and is a graduate of Leadership Shoals and the Alabama State Bar’s Leadership Forum. Edgar maintains a general practice focused on real estate, corporate formation and governance, and probate matters. He currently serves on the Alabama Board of Bar Commissioners, representing Colbert County attorneys. In the community, he served two years as Board President for Shoals Habitat for Humanity and currently serves as secretary of the Jennie Frank Berry Foundation for FAME Girls’ Ranch. Edgar and his wife Abby have two daughters.

Jameson Hughston

Jameson is a lifelong resident of the Shoals and the son of firm founder Jimmy Hughston. He maintains a general practice focused on real estate, corporate formation, contract preparation and business transactions, wills and estate matters, and civil litigation. After earning a political science degree from the University of Alabama in 2011, he received his law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law in 2014, graduating magna cum laude. Before returning to the Shoals, he spent two and a half years at one of Alabama’s largest firms in Huntsville. Jameson and his wife Kathleen have a son and a daughter and reside in Tuscumbia.
